I'm currently reading this book and I can't put it down! The character should are engaging and the story keeps you on the edge wondering what is going to happen next! Already the Emma is proving her strength and courage as she explores her new talents and prepares to figure out her destiny. I can't wait to see how this ends and where book three picks up!
What a Fantastic Book...
This book had me hooked from the very beginning and the way it ended was so amazing.I never saw it coming! I can't wait to see what happens next. Such a great story! It's one of those books I will read again and again. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves SciFi, romance, action and adventure because this story has it all. I can't wait for the final installment!! Five Stars!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. The second in the Argos Dynasty series (Soul of the Sun was first) wasn't quite as tight a storyline as the first book.
The story of the Argos women continue and their history of keeping the secrets of their history from another time and another planet. The information is doled out in bits and pieces to Diamond, the youngest of the clan who is the Soul of the Sun and has the power the stop time and save her people.
The story in an of itself was well within the realm of what I like to read. There was spirituality, philosophy, time travel, changing points of view, and pieces of the puzzle with twists and turns to put together. Good versus evil was clearly spelled out. It was all very engaging on that level and I'd recommend the book to lovers of the genre on those merits alone.
With a disclaimer...
In an already full ensemble cast of well developed characters from book one, Diamond's mother makes her first appearance in book two. The story would have been better to drop one of the Argos women to make room for both the mother as well as the other secondary characters from book one who showed up to take bigger roles. Personally, I'd choose to cut crotchety Aunt Betty who had her own strength in book one, but was just annoying in book two. She simply didn't do enough to drive the story forward to warrant her taking time from Diamond's and Tristan's story. Because of the extra characters, the story sometimes felt rushed and there wasn't enough time to develop the love story between Tristan and Diamond before he fell into the darkness. I had to accept their love story as a premise rather than through direct engagement as a reader. That's a shame because who doesn't like a good love story?
In addition, the ending of book two had the same defect of book one there was no real resolution, only the set up for the next book. Plus, there were too many new elements added in the final two chapters to give me that sense of satisfaction when I close the book and ponder what I've just read. The story was already chock full. It didn't need to spill over so much at the last minute into the next book.
I'll take the leap of faith and presume the author will tie up all the loose ends in book three and finally give me an ending that gives me a moment to breathe and ponder all I've just read. It's only from that moment of pause that I can look forward with anticipation to what comes next.
I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. It was full of great twists from start to finish. I stayed up late just to find out what happened. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a great read!
