Wow! What an unexpected phenomenal surprise this book was. These authors' obviously either did their homework or unfortunately have been hit with the every day reality of addiction. Unless you yourself either suffer from it or have a loved one who does you can't possibly understand the truth behind their words written, the realism in them or the devastation one feels watching someone you love suffer or worse yet, know someone personally, who has taken their life with heroin or has lost a loved one to it. While I don't know any rock stars personally, I can tell you that heroin addiction is extremely high in Long Island, New York, and there is no discrimination who it hits; young, old, rich, poor, every single profession, it doesn't matter it's a harsh reality here that one can't get away from hearing a story too often of another life being taken because of it. On our local news station it's all you hear daily, another accident or arrest due to the deadly drug and if you have a child here in any school district area, junior high and high school levels, they know someone who is affected, guaranteed.I have become obsessed with rock star reads and read a lot of them. I give a review only for books in general if they move me as this one has so profoundly, when an author asks me to and wants an honest review only, and sadly, only if it was that bad. I was not asked to give this review and am not a friend of either author, this is my honest review.
Incredible, both the hero, Kennedy and heroine, Abigail "Abby" are incredible. Both are equally measured, so beautiful, flawed, stubborn, talented with hearts of gold because of past losses and hardships. Their weaknesses and vulnerabilities, neither shy away from admitting them to one another head on, being conscientious when one will be struggling with a hardship that will bring those same insecurities or his addiction to the forefront again. It's powerful... they are powerful individually but together, whew, forget it these two are...Explosive!
Tucker, a secondary character, his role is powerful and so well written. The strength and support he displayed Kennedy daily and the other 3 band members was not just read but through these authors words profoundly felt to where I'd get chills of how beautiful he had their backs. Sometimes, it was obvious and other times he'd share something out of nowhere, had been on top of the situation already prepared how he was going to get them back to the road of recovery or had already gotten them situated in a place safe and sound with healing already in motion. Just beautiful, Kennedy, Abby, Tucker, Sean, Mattie, Cam, Tess, April, Nicole, Kennedy's parents, his brother Adam, Abby's parents and Ralph. Parker? Wow, forget it, there aren't enough words for that child's role in Rock the Dream, extraordinary doesn't do him justice or his parents, Joyce and David for that matter. This is an overwhelming, emotional, special read on so many, many levels. There are so many lessons one can learn from this book on addiction, AA, compassion for those who suffer from loss and guilt and THEN children suffering from terminal illnesses and what their every day lives look like, worse yet the impact it has on their families. I've said enough, please download this book ASAP, with caution though to those this may be a trigger for. I'm no expert and don't suffer from this, but if one is an addict, this book may help someone feel like they're not alone in their weakness, in wanting to feel numb when it gets too much or if there is something tragic going on in their life that might have them feeling tempted. In addition, for someone who has a sick child of this magnitude, this may be too much for you, I don't know, but you should be warned as well. For all others be prepared to get emotional but the greater are happy tears in this particular read. Everyone and I mean, everyone (not spoiling who I mean by that) comes together at some point to make Parker's dream come true which trickles on a grand scale to so many other children's dreams being met as well. Spectacular on every level. Read. This. Book!
Cliffhanger, no. Sexy, oh yes. Beautiful hero and heroine, absolutely yes! Great storyline, yes and so much more than your regular rock star read. Secondary characters, wow, strong, beautiful, real and funny but most of all just as important, riding front and center. I can't wait for their stories, Matt's story can't come out fast enough for me. Cheating, no. Threesomes, no. HFN, yes, I'm usually not a fan of HFNs since I usually read HEAs only, but it works here, you can't help but be okay with it and the promise for us to one day read about their HEA is inevitable. I have no doubt I'll read in one of the next books about Kennedy and Abby's HEA and I am so looking forward to their future. Honestly, I could go on and on with how much I loved this book for so many reasons. It is the most real book I've read in a long time written with such skill and carefulness to a touchy subject that is very much alive and kicking hard today. My favorite lesson from it, don't ever judge someone who either suffers from an addiction(s) or knows someone who suffers or worse, who has lost a loved one from addiction whether it be heroin, alcohol, pills or a combination. The lesson extended with Brodie's character, was profoundly heart felt, to have no one there? Was his family ashamed? Did he burn too many bridges? Did they just give up on him? Can I even picture myself feeling as alone as he did? SMH
I am so grateful and privileged to have read Rock The Dream. This book will stay with me for a long, long time.

Rock the Dream A Standalone Novel in the Redfall Dream Series Volume 1 BB Miller Leslie Carson 9780998246208 Books Reviews
When children are involved, tears are close at hand. This story has some seriously touching moments with a particular young boy and a hard core Rocker. Kennedy has quite the tender heart, once he finds it in the fog of the life he’s living. Abby is impressive in her professional demeanor, and ability to continue in the middle of the Hottest romances of her life!
Suspension of Reality generally comes with the territory when reading Romance. But one thing I appreciate about Rock The Dream is that the Kennedy’s troubles do not magically disappear...at least at first. They kinda do later, but a time frame is not really specified and he makes reference to the help he seeks.
**spoiler moment**
The one disappointing factor was the potential for a big conflict with an ex, but the build up to the meeting simply fizzles. I would have liked to have had the suspense end with more of a bang.
Overall, the story was quite enjoyable, the characters interesting, and snippets of future stories alluded to that I will look forward to continuing.
I have NEVER done this before! Leave a review before I even finish the book. I just felt it had to be done. Not sure if you have ever started reading a book and get so enraptured with the story or not, but I am there.!!! I am 20 percent through it and I find myself wanting soooo badly to know how it's going to end but not wanting it to. I am actually starting over so I can really savor it! Omg! I am going to have such a book hangover after this one! Deals with some heavy stuff but in a positive way. I have dealt with addiction in my family and it's horrible but everyone should have some understanding about it after this read.I don't know if that's what has had such an impact on me or not. I love the no nonsense attitude of Abby. However, I also love the vulnerability of Kennedy also. And, I have just started. Ok, enough. Will leave more when I actually finish! OK, I finished and it was just, WOW!! Better than I expected. Now, I have to wait for the next book in series to come out! Ugh!! Definitely, book hangover!!
If books could get 10 stars this would be one of them. What an amazing story of not just to die for Rockers, but loss, love and hope. Kennedy Lane and his band Redfall have been chart toppers for a lot of years and they are still enjoying the lifestyle, but personal tragedy has Kennedy falling deeper into an alcoholic haze worrying his trusted bodyguard and friend Tucker. Abigail Walker Executive Director of What's Your Dream the charitable organization that makes dreams come true for terminally ill children, loves nothing more than her job and with her staff has an amazing track record of granting children s' wishes. When one of the recipients, 11 year old Parker requests meeting and spending the day with his idol Kennedy Lane, Abigail has misgivings on the character of the rocker. When they meet for the first time, it's everything Abby was afraid of and nothing that Kennedy would ever forget. You don't only get to read about Kennedy and Abby falling for each other - it is tangible.
This book is beautifully written and you can tell the authors did their homework on a variety of subjects this story touches on from drug and alcohol abuse to dealing with loss, guilt and the massive workings of a major charity organization and putting on a massive concert. The supporting characters are such an integral part of this story that I am dying to know when the next book is coming out. This was a Valentine's Day gift to myself - Highly recommend Rock The Dream.
